CHRISTMAS SLIDE SHOW

LAST DAY OF THE YEAR

Well today is the last day of the year, I hope everybody had a pretty good 2008 and has a better 2009. The Richmond Renegades will be in action tonight at Fayetteville, the Gades made several moves yesterday trying to improve the team. Also is appears there best defensemen will return to the team after being out with injury next week which should help there defense a great deal. It has been a tough week on NFL coaches, since the season ended on Sunday 4 coaches have been fired. My PAIN index remains about the same this morning, I have a few nagging problems which has prevented my index from falling further. I will probably be sleep by the time 2009 comes in tonight. MICKEY

This bright new year is given me

To daily grow and try to be

At the end of the day you have to live with yourself. Live the day according to your core beliefs.

The avocado has the most calories of any fruit.

Are you too greedy with your resolutions? Some resolutions like losing weight, learning a new skill or training for a marathon can take months to achieve. If there are too many big ticket resolutions like these, you may be stretching yourself too thin over the year and having too little time/energy left to do well in any of them. My suggestion is to have only 2 to 3 big ticket resolutions and less than a dozen small resolutions in your resolution list. Spread your big-ticket resolutions across the year so that big ticket resolutions don't happen within the same period. This is especially true if you have a day job and you are using free time to work on your resolutions.

I AM A BIT TIRED THIS MORNING

Well after not doing much of noting for 4 days I went back to work yesterday and this morning I am I bit tired, there is some good news this week though because I will be off Thursday for for New Years Day. After New Years Day though I won't have a day off until Memorial Day unless we get a big snow. It was good to see fellow blogger Mark back on the blog yesterday, he did make a comment on yesterdays blog entry. I haven't been doing as well on my bowl picks this week, however I am still leading the contest but my lead is shrinking. Andrew is making a late run to the top by picking the last 6 bowl games right. My sinuses are bothering me again as well this morning which has caused my PAIN index to rise. It is going to be very windy tomorrow with wind 25-30 mph expected in the afternoon with gusts to 40 mph, so since it trash day here in CH there will be trash flying everywhere. MICKEY

Now is your moment
It is now, and now is different. Even though you may have experienced an overwhelming amount of disappointment in the past, the past is over.
Perhaps you've failed again and again. Now is different.

That was then and this is now. Now you have the opportunity to move forward.

Now you can do what you've never been able to do before. Now you can follow through on the things you've been unable or unwilling to do in the past.

Now is your moment to live. Now is the time to act.

Now is when you can truly make a difference. Stand up, step forward and live.

VIRGINIA UPSETS GEORGIA TECH, BACK TO WORK TODAY

The Virginia Cavaliers upset the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 88-84 in OT last night in Atlanta, the Cavs lead at the half by 7 and where able to pull it out in OT. Next up the Cavaliers is a home game against Xavier of January 3. The Green Bay Packers ended the season on a good note yesterday beating the now 0-16 Lions 31-21, the Redskins fell to th 49er's 27-24. The NFL playoffs start next weekend. Well after 4 days off I will be heading back to work today, I am sure my PAIN index will be on the rise because of this on Tuesday. It looks like the weather will be pretty mild until Wednesday with highs in the 50's but after that it will drop into the 40's Thursday and Friday. Have a nice day. MICKEY

RENEGADES LET ONE SLIP AWAY, UVA STARTS THERE ACC SHEDULE TODAY

The Richmond Renegades let one slip away last night against Huntsville Havoc falling 6-3. The Gades lead after the 1st period 3-1 but unfortunately they had to play two more periods which they didn't show up for. The Gades will return back home next Saturday & Sunday. The Virginia Cavilers open up there ACC schedule today at Georgia Tech against the Yellow Jackets, last night the VCU Rams picked up another win beating the Hampton Pirates 59-54. Well the NFL regular season comes to an end today and the Green Bay Packers will be playing host to the 0-15 Lions, it wouldn't suprise me if the Lions won this game. The Redskins finish out there season at San Francisco this afternoon. The ACC didn't fair to well yesterday in bowl action yesterday going 1-2, Florida State picked up the win while both North Carolina & Miami lost close games. I think today will be the last day of Christmas leftovers here at the house, I don't think I can eat to much more roast beef for a while. After being off for the last 4 days I will be heading back to work tomorrow which will likely cause my PAIN index to rise. MICKEY

Is it true that no two snowflakes are identical?
Yes and no. No two snowflakes are exactly identical, down to the precise number of water molecules, spin of electrons, isotope abundance of hydrogen and oxygen, etc. On the other hand, it is possible for two snowflakes to look exactly alike and any given snowflake probably has had a good match at some point in history. Since so many factors affect the structure of a snowflake and since a snowflake's structure is constantly changing in response to environmental conditions, it is improbable that anyone would see two identical snowflakes.

GADES WIN ON THE ROAD, TO MUCH MUCH GLAZE ON MY DONUTS

The Richmond Renegades went on the road last night and knocked off the Knoxville Ice Bears 4-3 in OT. The Gades jumped out to 2-0 lead only to have Knoxville come back and take a 3-2 lead before the Gades tied it up late in the 3rd to send into OT. The Gades will be back at home tonight against the 1st place Huntsville Havoc who have lost there last two games. The VCU Rams will be at home tonight against the Hampton Pirates, I understand that several fellow bloggers may be in attendance tonight. There are three college bowl games as well today, in our college football pick em contest I think Lee has now been officially eliminated from winning this years contest. Well I did go down to Wal-Mart and yes I did get some donuts, however they had to much glaze on them which almost mad them uneatable. They had about 5 times as much glaze on them as they usually do. In case anybody missed this years Christmas photo albums I have posted links to both albums below. MICKEY

Returning Items
If you plan on returning items that you received as a gift but don't have a receipt you will want to do it within a week or so of Christmas. Most stores are much more relaxed about returns immediately after Christmas. If you don't have a receipt, they may only extend in store credit rather than cash.

Read a boring book. Save one of your school textbooks or buy a cheap one on a subject you don't care about. When you can't sleep, get up and read a few pages. The more boring or uninteresting the book, the sooner you will feel sleepy. Then go back to bed.

What are common snowflake shapes?
Generally, six-sided hexagonal crystals are shaped in high clouds; needles or flat six-sided crystals are shaped in middle height clouds; and a wide variety of six-sided shapes are formed in low clouds. Colder temperatures produce snowflakes with sharper tips on the sides of the crystals and may lead to branching of the snowflake arms (dendrites). Snowflakes that grow under warmer conditions grow more slowly, resulting in smoother, less intricate shapes.

25-21° F - Needles
21-14° F - Hollow columns
14-10° F - Sector plates (hexagons with indentations)
10-3° F - Dendrites (lacy hexagonal shapes)

I HOPE EVERYBODY HAD A GOOD CHRISTMAS

Well I hope everybody had a good Christmas and didn't eat to much. I am off today and I am pretty glad that I am because I am very tired this morning. Since Christmas Eve I have been on the move and I just need a few days to recover. I got a new suit for Christmas, the question is will I get 25 years out of my new suit like it did my old one. I think every family picture that we have since 1980 I have the same suit on. Dad got an interesting book for Christmas, The True Story of The Three Little Pigs told by Alexander T. Wolf. It gives you the other side of the story about what really happened. I have also posted a photo of fellow bloggers Lee & Melanie taken last night at there house. I will be posting the rest of the photos from yesterday later today on my photo pages. The Richmond Renegades beat the Huntsville Havoc last night 5-2 at the Coliseum, the Gades will be on the road in Knoxville tonight before returning home to play Huntsville again on Saturday night. MERRY CHRISTMAS

I want to wish all you fellow bloggers and everybody else who visits Mickey's Place a very Merry Christmas. Well are annual Christmas Eve Party went off without any hitches last night, I have posted a link below to all the photos that Al took last night. If anybody went away hungry last night it was there own fault. The Richmond Renegades will be back on the ice tonight against the Huntsville Havoc at home, needless to me & dad will now be in attendance. It will surprise me if they have over 2,000 people there. Well I have a very busy day ahead of me, I will be heading over to Andrew, Keith & Maureen's later this morning and then we will be heading over to Auntie's house around supper time. I also have to get on the treadmill a couple of times to burn off all the food that I have ate or am going to eat later today. MERRY CHRISTMAS. MICKEY

The joy of giving
What a blessing it is on this Christmas Day, and every day, to be able to give. For it is through giving that life's greatest joys are created.
Sincerely give of yourself today, with no agenda other than to celebrate the pure spirit of giving. And truly experience life in all its richness.

When you give, you open your heart to life and allow great measures of abundance to come pouring in. What could possibly bring more meaning and fulfillment to life than making a difference in the lives of others?

Giving is more than merely offering objects. When you give, give your time, your attention, your love, compassion, consideration, patience and respect.

Give a part of yourself, and you will not ever lose it. That part of you takes on greater influence and value as it touches other lives beyond your own.

On this day, simply give because you can. And know the unmatched joy that giving brings to life.

IT'S THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS

I don't know about you but for some reason it just doesn't feel like the day before Christmas, I know it is but it just doesn't seem like it to me. If you were in the area of any of the area malls yesterday though they were pretty crowded with all those last minute shopping. Speaking of malls, I have to go over in the area of the Short Pump Town Center later this morning for a delivery. I am going to feel like I am working for the government after today, I am going to be off for the next 4 days which is fine with me. The Virginia Cavaliers beat Hampton last night 74-48 in a game the Cavs needed to win. Well tonight the house will be packed with family & friends as we have our annual Christmas Eve get together here at the house, I just hope I don't eat to much. There will be allot of fellow and former bloggers in the house tonight. Well I hope everybody has a Merry Christmas. MICKEY

TODAY IS
National Eggnog Day
Anniversary of Silent Night (1818)
Christmas Eve

Mini workouts. Several mini workouts can be as effective as one extended workout. For busy people it may be much easier to split a workout into several smaller sessions. Breaking up the day with several 10-minute workouts can wake you up and make you more productive during low energy parts of your day. Split exercise sessions may also make your workouts more efficient.

If a task seems overwhelming, break it down into more manageable, specific goals. Telling yourself you need to “lose 10 pounds” isn’t specific enough about how you’re going to get there. Set smaller goals in short-term increments, like walking three times for an hour in the next week or doing 10 sit-ups each day. By setting baby steps, you’ll be much more likely to accomplish your goal and also be inspired to go further.

Silent reflection
For just a while, calm your thoughts. In this moment, simply be.

There is much in your life, and there is much more to come. Yet you have always been, and you always are, more than enough.

For a moment, let go of the way you appear and the things you've done. Feel the truth and power of who you are.

In silence, there is much you can know. Beyond thought, there is much you can understand.

Touch the person who always lives inside the person you are. Be immersed in the beauty and wonder of being.

Feel the strength that is always there. And know that whatever may come, all is well.

PACKERS WOES CONTINUE

Well things looked pretty good at halftime with the Packers leading the Bears 14-3 last night, but the Packers found away lose again. The Packers once promising season just keeps getting worst, the Packers are now 5-10 and would be in last place in there division if it wasn't for the Lions. Speaking of the Lions the packers finish out there season at home next week against th 0-15 Lions. I saw former blogger George yesterday while a work and he asked me to wish all you bloggers a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. He said everything was going ok with him and the rest of the family. I hope everybody has finished there shopping by now, I had to go by the mall area yesterday several times yesterday and it was pretty congested. The Virginia basketball team will be back in action tonight at home against Hampton, if they don't win this one it may be long time before they win another game this season. My PAIN index remains about the same this morning, my thumb is better but my wisdom tooth is still a bit tender. MICKEY

REDSKINS WIN, IT IS GOING TO BE VERY COLD TODAY

The Washington Resdkins eliminated the Philadelphia Eagles from playoff contention yesterday with a 10-3 win over the Eagles.  The win however did allow Dallas back into the playoffs with a win next week a Philadelphia. The Green Bay Packers will be in Chicago tonight trying to eliminate the Bears from playoff contention, I don't like the Packers chances tonight. It is going to be very cold today here in CH with a high of only 35 and tonight it is going to drop back into the teens and to top it off the win is blowing pretty hard as well. It does look like the temperatures will moderate into the 50 by Wednesday. It appears that a fellow blogger down in Georgia confronted a high school ref recently after he thought the ref in a wrestling match treated members of his team unfairly during a match a few weeks ago. During the same weekend he also had a bit of run in with a parent from another team as well, while yelling out instructions to his son about what to do to the next time his opponent pulls that move a parent form the other team turned aorund and said something to him.  He told the parent thay it would best of he turned back around and be quiet. Cant we all get along down in Georgia. My Pain index is up again this morning because I have 1 sore wisdom tooth, I bruised my thumb playing basketball last night and because it is just to cold. RENEGADES LOSE ON THE ICE, RAMS & CAVALIERS ALSO FALL

Well the Richmond Renegades scored two goals again last night but the only problem was that Columbus scored 7 enroute to a 7-2 win over the Gades.  It appears that the Gades offense has been missing again the last two games, I have said it before you are not going to win many games in this league only scoring 2 goals a game.  Well it appeared that the Virginia Cavaliers were poised for an upset of Auburn yesterday before the offense decided to take the rest of the game off allowing Auburn to come away with a 58-56 victory.  It appears it is going to be a very long season for the Cavaliers. The VCU Rams played pretty well for a while last night against Oklahoma before the Sooners depth caught up with the Rams and Oklahoma came away with a 81-70 win. In case you didn't stay up late last night to see the end of the Cowboys vs Ravens game, the Ravens came away with a 33-24 win. In the college football contest yesterday I was 2-2 while one person went 0-4, nobody got all four games right. It is very cool rainy morning here in Colonial Heights, I am glad that I am not working today. In the NFL today not that it really matters the Redskins will be at home against the Eagles. MICKEY

SPIDERS WIN I-AA TITLE, RENEGADES WIN ON THE ROAD

The Richmond Spiders may have played there best game of the season defensively last night in championship game of the I-AA in a 24-7 win over the Montana Grizzlies. The Spiders offense played extremely well in the 1st half but sputtered a bit in the 2nd half but the Spiders defense was the story last night leading Richmond to the 1st ever National Championship in any sport. The Richmond Renegades picked up a 2-1 road victory in Columbus last night, from all accounts of the game the Richmond goalie was the difference in the game. The Gades will play in Columbus again tonight. The VCU Rams and the Virginia Cavaliers will both be back in action on the hardwood today, the Rams will be on the road at Oklahoma while Virginia will be at home against the Auburn Tigers. The college bowl season also starts today 4 games today, the only ACC team in action today is Wake Forest who will face Navy. I did go down to Wal-Mart this morning and it appeared that there were a few more people than normal in the store because of Christmas. I did see allot of people who had that panic look in there eyes because they new time was running out on them to finish there shopping. My PAIN index is up this morning because I bit my tongue while eating yesterday and one of my wisdom tooths is a bit tender this morning as well. MICKEY

From city sidewalks to wooded trails, there are plenty of places for runners to explore — at no cost. If you travel a lot, it's easy to pack your running shoes and run while you're on the road.

RICHMOND SPIDERS TO PLAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP TONIGHT, CH GIRLS WIN

The Richmond Spiders football team will play for the NCAA I-AA championship tonight against Montana, the game will be played in Chattanooga, Tennessee and can be seen on ESPN2. The CH girls basktaball team picked up there 2nd win in a row last night beating the Hopewell Blue Devils 67-33, both girls and boys basketball teams will now be off until after Christmas. Also today is the last day of school for two weeks for both students and teachers and they only have to go half a day today, sounds like they are working for the government. The Richmond Renegades will spend this weekend down in Columbus, Georgia facing the Cottonmouths tonight and tomorrow night. The Gades have only won two games on the road all year so it could be a long weekend. My PAIN index is on the rise a bit this morning because I did wrap a few more presents last night, my right shoulder is a bit sore. Have nice weekend and stay away from those malls this weekend because they are going to be crowded. MICKEY

Canada is an Indian word meaning "Big Village".

At times, you will not feel like exercising. If you're just feeling a little tired or low on energy, go ahead and try to complete your routine. The workout will likely boost your energy level and your mood.

Every time something good happens to you, make something good happen to someone else.

Running can also be used as a way to contribute to society as a whole. Many races benefit charities, and some charities offer race training in exchange for fund-raising. Running for something that's bigger than you is a great way to stay motivated to keep training and can make your races even more meaningful and fulfilling.
