RENEGADES BACK AT HOME TONIGHT, VIRGINIA BASEBALL TEAM WINS AGAIN

The Richmond Renegades are back at home tonight for the 1st time in about 3 weeks when the Twin City Cyclones make an appearance at the Richmond Coliseum, the Gades will also be home on Saturday night as well against the Fayetteville FireAntz. The Virginia baseball team dismantled Coppin State yesterday 27-1 to improve to 6-0 on the season, the Cavs will began a three game series this afternoon with Siena. Well my arm is feeling much better this morning because I didn't have to throw again yesterday, it looks like it is going to be about 10 degrees warmer today which my arm will appreciate. The last two days at baseball practice have been pretty cold. Don't forget we have a home baseball scrimmage tomorrow at 2pm against Trinity. The Nascar Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series will be in Las Vegas this weekend. I sure am glad it's Friday. MICKEY

Great effort springs naturally from a great attitude.

Health Tip: Muscle Injury?
Many minor overuse injuries to muscles and tendons can be treated at home.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons suggests the RICE method, which includes:

* Resting the injured area by avoiding exercise, sports or activities that may aggravate the injury until the pain subsides.
* Icing the area with an ice pack (protecting the skin) several times a day for about 20 minutes per session.
* Compressing the area by wearing an elastic compression bandage.
* Elevating the area, keeping it above the level of your heart.

NUTRITION TIP
Exchange 20 oz of regular soda for water By now you know that soda pop is not good for you, so why are you still drinking it? Every time you crave an ice cold cola picture swallowing spoonfuls of white sugar. Yikes, talk about a set up for weight gain. Stick with water and kiss those extra calories goodbye.

Serendipity
Good things will come to you in ways you could never anticipate or expect. Yet if you're constantly placing judgments, conditions and restrictions on your life, you'll miss out on most of those good things.

Being open to the abundance of life means being open to the unknown and unexpected. If you hide away from what you do not know, you'll never discover anything new.

The world is constantly changing, and many of those changes can seem frightening. Yet within each and every change there is opportunity.

When the world changes, legions of positive possibilities are born. When the unexpected happens, there is much new value to be created.

Choose to welcome the constant newness that is essential to life. For it brings new ways to more fully express and fulfill your own unique purpose.

In every unexpected turn of events is a pleasant surprise waiting to be discovered. Open yourself to the freshness of each dawning moment, and find those magnificent treasures that have just been born.

IT WAS A VERY COLD DAY FOR BASEBALL PRACTICE, VIRGINIA BASEBALL TEAM NOW 4-0

It was a very cold day for baseball practice yesterday and it doesn't appear today is going to be much warmer, we even got a few snow flurries at the Shep. It does look like tomorrow will be about 10 degrees warmer than today, my arm did get some much needed rest yesterday and I might be available today. Don't forget we will have our first scrimmage at 2pm at Shepherd Stadium on Saturday against Trinity, also Thomas Dale will scrimmage Cosby the same day at Thomas Dale. The Virginia baseball team got another pretty strong pitching performance yesterday and beat the Old Dominion Monarchs 7-3, with the win the Cavs improve to 4-o and will face Coppin State today. The VCU Rams captured the CAA regular season tittle last night beating UNC Wilmington 72-58, however the regular season title doesn't mean much since the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament goes to the CAA tournament champion. I hope everybody dresses to stay warm today. MICKEY

Health Tip: What's Behind My Migraine?
Migraines are severe headaches that can also cause nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.

Migraines are more common in women than men. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services lists these common triggers of migraines in women:

* Not getting enough to eat.
* Not getting enough sleep.
* Exposure to bright lights or loud noise.
* Fluctuating hormone levels, such as during your period.
* Changes in the weather.
* Emotional factors, such as stress or anxiety.
* Chocolate, alcohol, nicotine or foods with additives such as MSG.

Hunger for meaning
Are you so busy chasing pleasure that you leave no room for joy in your life? Are you so obsessed with proving how happy you are that you make yourself miserable?

Step back for a moment and remember who you are. Even if you reach them, the generic goals and aspirations you borrow from others will not bring you even a moment of real fulfillment.

Life does not gain meaning through the things you see advertised on television. If all you want is what the world tells you to want, you'll find yourself in a perpetual state of lack, limitation and frustration.

Within you is a hunger for meaning. Within you is a burning desire to make a difference and to express a purpose that is special to you alone.

No one can give that purpose to you, for it is something you already have. Let go of the need to nourish your shallow ego, and you'll begin to connect with the real, meaningful purpose that is woven through your whole life.

Free yourself from the off-the-shelf definition of success that is nothing more than an empty fantasy. Instead, find real success and joy by giving life to the purpose that has always been within you.

IF IT'S A MUSCLE IT'S HURTING, UNCW AT VCU

Well after throwing another 400 pitches or so yesterday I think every muscle on the right side of my body is hurting. It sure didn't look like we were going to be able to get practice in yesterday because of the weather but the 90% chance of rain just didn't materialize. I have to say that I am doubtful today to be able to throw at all. The Virginia Cavalier baseball team was rained out against Coppin State yesterday and they now play them on Thursday, however the Cavaliers will play Old Dominion at home today, the Monarchs knocked off #2 North Carolina yesterday. The VCU basketball team will have it's final home game of the season tonight when UNC Wilmington visits the Rams, the CAA tournament starts next week at the Richmond Coliseum. The weather is going to be a bit cold today for practice with highs in the 40's and a 20mph wind which will make it feel much colder and tomorrow the high is only going to be in the low 40's but with light winds. It sure doesn't feel like baseball weather. MICKEY

All of us have bad luck and good luck. The man who persists through the bad luck -- who keeps right on going -- is the man who is there when the good luck comes -- and is ready to receive it.

HEALTH TIP: Prevent Runner's Knee
Symptoms of runner's knee typically include pain in and around the kneecap, particularly when running, squatting, kneeling or walking up or down stairs.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons offers these suggestions to help prevent runner's knee:

* Take time to get your body in good condition before performing activities that stress the knees.
* Try to lose weight. Being overweight puts additional stress on the knees.
* Always warm up and stretch your legs before you exercise. Remember to stretch after your workout, as well.
* Increase activity gradually. Trying to do too much before your body is conditioned for it can cause injury.
* Wear supportive running shoes that absorb shock well. Try to run on somewhat softer surfaces.
* Practice good form when running, leaning slightly forward and keeping your knees bent.

Beauty and goodness
Think of the most beautiful thing you've ever witnessed, and multiply it by a thousand. What you then have is only a small, barely detectable fraction of the magnificent creation that is life.

What if you could experience the full beauty and goodness of life in one instant? You would surely and uncontrollably weep with tears of pure joy at the realization.

And there is something you would know, without the slightest doubt. That no problem, no challenge, no difficulty, no pain can ever really diminish the wonder and grandeur that is life.

There is a truth you would understand, in a way surpassing all thoughts and words, and it is this. Although the difficulties are very real, they are also very small when compared to the positive possibilities.

It pays to continually put things in perspective. For the more ground your perspective encompasses, the more valuable opportunities you'll have to live with genuine richness.

Choose as your perspective the wondrous and ever-expanding beauty of life. Within that golden territory, you'll find all the goodness and value you could ever desire.

BAEBALL PRACTICE UNDERWAY, LOOKS LIKE SOME RAIN TODAY

Well we had out 1st day of baseball practice and I would to say that overall it was a very productive day. However today isn't looking to good for practice because there is a pretty good chance of rain today, maybe we can hit in the cage if it doesn't rain to hard. My arm is a bit sore but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be yet, I think it will be hurting much worst by this afternoon, I think I threw between 400 and 500 yesterday. The UVA baseball team is scheduled to play Coppin State today but with the impending weather it's not looking to good for that game. Carl Edwards won yesterdays rain delayed Sprint Cup race at the California Speedway and Tony Stewart won yesterday rain delayed Nationwide race. Kyle Busch now leads Ryan Newman by 6 points in the Sprint Cup standings. I will have some Advil with me today just in case I need to take some. Also I haven't slept well in about 4 days, I seem to wake up at about 4am everyday. MICKEY

Tears shed for self are tears of weakness, but tears shed for others are a sign of strength.
Billy Graham

NUTRITION TIP
Time to go green, I won't drinking any of this
Green tea contains a phytochemical called ECGC that can boost your basal metabolism. It also contains less caffeine than coffee, so you're less likely to be jittery.

Already fulfilled
When you don't need anything, then you truly have everything. When you know that you already have enough, that you already are enough, that everything is as it should be, then your life will be rich indeed.

Get past the need to possess and you'll discover that the whole world is yours. Abandon the need to be right and you'll find real truth.

Let go of the need to impress others and you'll have their sincere respect. Move beyond the need to control every detail, and your influence will grow stronger.

As long as you feel you need something, it cannot possibly be yours. The more you focus on the need for anything, the more you deny it to yourself.

Why would you want to do that? Instead, realize that whatever you desire is already available to you, and enjoy the process of expressing it more fully as you move through each moment.

Appreciate, understand and focus your energy on the good and valuable things in your life. And you'll know that your most authentic desires are already fulfilled.

Well I gave you the whole weekend and and nobody even tried to guess. You must of been too busy but you will get another chance because I'm giving it to you again. So at least try.

We had a thunderstorm on Saturday and it knocked out the cable so I didn't have TV or the internet. The TV I could get along without because I had DVDs to see but BOY did I miss the internet. I left without cable. No one would even come and look at our cable. We are now looking at Direct TV. I don't think the cable people even care.

BASEBALL PRACTICE STARTS TODAY, VIRGINIA WIN AGAIN

Well baseball practice starts today and it looks like the weather won't be to bad today but the rest of the week isn't looking to promising. Today it's suppose to be in the upper 50's, tomorrow it is going to be in the upper 50's but rain and then it is going to be very cold and windy on Wednesday but it is suppose to be back in the 50's by Friday. My arm doesn't like cold weather at all. The Virginia basketball team picked up another win yesterday beating the NC State Wolfpack, next up for the Cavaliers is game at Miami on Saturday. The Virginia baseball team is now 4-0 after beating Lehigh 6-1 & 12-1 yesterday, the Cavs will face Coppin State on Tuesday and Old Dominion on Wednesday. They will try to finish the Sprint Cup race this afternoon at 1pm from the California Speedway, they probably should have never started the race yesterday with all the problems they were having with the rain and the seepages on the track. They will also try to run Nationwide race today also. My PAIN index isn't to bad today but I got a feeling it might be on the rise by Tuesday. MICKEY

Advice is like snow --- the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge

NUTRITION TIP
Don’t be scared of fats.
Despite what the media wants you to believe not all fat is bad fat. Although you will want to avoid trans fats it is important that your sports nutrition plan have a balance of saturated, monosaturated, and polysaturated fats in your diet.

Make something beautiful
The victories bring joy, and new opportunities. The defeats bring wisdom, strength, determination, and new opportunities.

In this way, life moves continually forward. In each moment, you can build upon whatever has come before.

Sometimes things happen just as you expected they would, and then there are times when nothing goes the way you had it planned. In any event, there is a way to respond triumphantly.

Learn to see the value no matter what outer conditions and circumstances may be concealing it. Know that there is value, and you will find it.

Right now, you are where you are supposed to be. For right now, you are where you can truly make a difference.

The ups and downs and ins and outs of life have brought you to this day. And on this day, you can make something beautiful out of it all.

The two top series in Nascar will run a rare doubleheader today at the California Speedway since the Nationwide Series race was rained out last night, they will run the Sprint Cup Series race 1st to be followed by the Nationwide race. RENEGADES LOSE 6TH STRAIGHT GAME, UVA BASEBALL IN ACTION TODAY

After wining 12 straight games the Renegades have now lost 6 straight, the Gades fell to Columbus last night 5-0. The Gades have now been shutout the last two games and will be in Huntsville tonight a place were they never play well, if they keep playing like this they may the only team in the SPHL not to make the playoffs. After being washed on opening day the Virginia baseball team will play a doubleheader today and tomorrow against Lehigh. Speaking of rain outs the Georgia Tech vs Virginia basketball game has been rescheduled for Monday March 3 at 7:30pm. The VCU Rams will play the Akron Zips today in an ESPN bracket buster game at 11am on ESPN2. The VSU Trojan baseball team is scheduled to play fellow blogger Les's alma matter Indiana(PA) today at 1pm in a doubleheader weather permitting, from what I understand if they don't play today they may play Sunday & Monday. Speaking of the weather it's already warmer here in CH than it has been the last two days, however it is still very overcast and there is still a bit of drizzle falling. My PAIN index has dropped some more this morning, the only thing really bothering me is my right ear however my PAIN index will likely be on the increase by Tuesday morning. MICKEY

I always felt that I hadn't achieved what I wanted to achieve. I always felt I could get better. That's the whole incentive.

NUTRITION TIP
Eat protein, vegetables and fruit with every meal.
In order for you to have correct sports nutrition you should eat lean protein, vegetables and fruit at every meal. By doing this it will ensure that you not only are eating optimally but also you meeting the your daily requirements.

When effort feels effortless
It is your true nature to create and achieve. Today, allow that true nature to be fully expressed.

If you think you must struggle to get things done, that is precisely how it will be. If you see life's abundance as being apart from you, that abundance will be out of your reach.

Consider how completely right it feels when you are living in harmony with your most authentic purpose. Think of how effective you can be when doing something you love.

The objectives for which you strive and agonize will bring no real fulfillment, even if you're able to reach them. When you're moving toward a goal and the effort feels effortless, that is a goal that will bring real lasting value.

Let go of the need to struggle for what you don't really desire in the first place. Instead, allow your life to unfold each moment in accordance with your true creative nature.

Connect to the purpose that is sincerely you. Express that purpose, and you'll fill your world with richness.
