RENEGADES WIN 10TH STRAIGHT

The Richmond Renegades won there 10th straight game last night beating the Huntsville Havoc 5-4 at the Richmond Coliseum. The Gades got off to a bit of a slow start trailing 1-0 after the 1st but turned it on 2nd period scoring 4 goals en route to the victory. The ice appeared to be in pretty bad shape at the RC last night, they had to stop an fix some wholes a few times last night and the ice just appeared to very soft. The Gades will go for there 11th straight win Friday night against Jacksonville at the RC. The CH girls basketball team will be back in action tonight at Hopewell, the Colonials will be looking to extend there winning streak. The Virginia Cavalier basketball team long season continued last night at Maryland where the Terrapins beat the Cavaliers 85-75, next up for the Cavs is a trip to Virginia Tech. It looks like we are going to get allot of rain here in CH on Friday and there might even be a thunderstorm as well, I know we need the rain but it sure seems like we have had our fair share lately. MICKEY

And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.

Life returns the favor
When you encounter resistance, it means you are moving forward. When you come across a challenge, it means you have reached the point where you can successfully meet that challenge.

Life becomes more rewarding as it becomes more demanding. You are destined to achieve, and each successive achievement positions you for an even greater, more challenging achievement.

Each new challenge is an opportunity to stretch beyond your previous limits. Most of the advantages you enjoy today were born in the difficulties through which you traveled in days past.

Every day brings a new way for you to more fully give of yourself. It is by so giving, in ways that are familiar and in ways not yet imagined, that you create the life you most sincerely desire.

In everything there is treasure to be found. The richest treasures are those that ask the most of you, for they resonate wholly with your deepest purpose.

Delight in the living beauty of each challenging effort. Give your best to life and life returns the favor, a million times over.

RENEGADES GO FOR 10TH STRAIGHT WIN, CH GIRLS WIN

The Richmond Renegades will be going for there 10th straight win tonight at the Richmond Coliseum against the Huntsville Havoc, the Gades will also be home both Friday and Saturday nights against the Jacksonville Barracudas. Also yesterday the Renegades announced that enforcer Matt Goody has retired, apparently he was unable to come up with the money he was fined for his suspension. The CH girls basketball team beat Dinwiddie last night 55-50 while the CH boys team fell to Dinwiddie 78-47. The VCU Rams also fell last night to the George Mason Patriots 63-51, maybe I shouldn't root for any college basketball teams because when I do they seem to lose. Speaking of losing the UVA basketball team will be on the road at Maryland tonight, they Cavs have blown leads in the 2nd half the last few games. Me and dad did go up to the high school and throw a little more yesterday, I am trying to get my arm in shape for the 1st day of baseball practice. MICKEY

A COUPLE OF NEW FEATURES ADDED, COLONIALS BACK IN ACTION

I have added a couple of new features to the blog a wanted to know what everybody thinks about them, I have added a scroll where I can post information about anything and I have added a link to live weather conditions here in CH observed at North Elementary. The CH girls basketball team will be back at home tonight against Dinwiddie while the boys team will travel to Dinwiddie. The VCU Rams look to extend there lead in the CAA tonight when they travel up to George Mason to play the Patriots, the game can be seen on ESPN2. We are getting a little rain here in CH this morning and we will get some more tonight and the temp is suppose to get up to about 60 today which is very mild for this time of year. Me and dad went up to the high school yesterday afternoon and threw some yesterday, I am trying to get my arm in shape for baseball practice which starts later this month. My foot still is feeling pretty good but my ear remains pretty clogged up. MICKEY

Victory becomes, to some degree, a state of mind. Knowing ourselves superior to the anxieties, troubles, and worries which obsess us, we are superior to them.
Basil King

Fitness Tip
Back up your back. Don’t forget to train your lower back. Keeping your lower back strong can keep you injury free so you can work on the other body parts you need to focus on. Keep your back strong and chances are you’ll never suffer debilitating back pain. But we can’t promise you’ll never meet another pain in the neck.

Fast recovery
Even when you are thoroughly committed to staying positively focused, life can get in the way. Though you may have the best of intentions, there will be times when you veer off course as a result of your own actions.

When that happens, don't beat yourself up about it. Just recognize it, accept it, learn from it, and get moving again in a positive direction.

Winners and losers will both stumble. The difference is, winners have learned to quickly get back up.

If you make a mistake, or lose your temper, or allow yourself to become distracted, it's normal and natural, and not the end of the world. Though it is painful when you've disappointed yourself, you have the opportunity to make something positive out of that pain.

It is indeed a good thing to realize that what you have just done was not the best choice. For now you can move forward with a renewed and stronger determination.

When you know you've stumbled, decide to recover quickly. Soon you'll be moving ahead even faster than before.

A PRETTY GOOD WEEKEND

I have to say that I had a pretty good weekend even though it was pretty cold. I went down to the beach Saturday morning and came back yesterday afternoon, I hadn't been down there in several months so it was good to get away from the Heights for a couple of days. My foot has felt pretty good for about the last five days but my right ear is still pretty clogged up, I think that I got some water trapped in there. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse for the Virginia basketball team it did, the Cavs blew another big lead and fell to Georgia Tech at the JPJ Arena. Virginia may not win another ACC game this year if they keep playing the way they are right now. Can you believe that high school baseball practice starts 4 weeks from today, I just hope the weather will be mild when baseball practice starts. Speaking of weather it looks like it is going to be a pretty mild weather week which is just fine with me. MICKEY

Most people miss the great part mental outlook plays in this game. Billy Martin

NUTRITION TIP
Cutting out sweets completely from your diet when you're used to having them every day can lead to a sugar binge. It's best to appease your desire with frequent, but small servings.

Calm your mind
You can choose your thoughts. And you can choose, for a while, to be free of those thoughts.

Serenity does not require any particular environment or conditions on the outside. Serenity is a state you can achieve on the inside, whatever else might be going on.

At any time, you can choose to calm your mind. Clear your thoughts away and for a while, feel the refreshing and renewing peace of simply being.

Discover how easy it can be to let go of the thoughts racing through your head, and let in a feeling of serenity. Choose to put yourself in a state where even the distractions cannot affect you.

See that the disappointments of the past are far, far away. Let your peaceful, accepting experience of the moment fill you with a solid, confident energy.

Step back for a little while and feel the calm reality of who you are, of the life you are living. Enjoy a serene moment, and your eyes will be opened to the positive possibilities that are all around you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTTIE, GADES WIN AGAIN

Well today is crime fighter Scottie's 16th birthday and it won't be long now and he will be behind the wheel of Scott's Toyota Tundra, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTTIE. The Richmond Renegades won there 9th straight game last night 7-2 over the Twin City Cyclones, the Gades will now return home Wednesday night against the Huntsville Havoc for the 1st game of five straight games at the Richmond Coliseum. The VCU Rams beat the Drexel Dragons 76-62 at home yesterday, with the win the Rams are now 15-4 overall and 8-1 in the CAA, next up for the Rams is a road trip to George Mason on Tuesday night. Mickey's Place's old team will be in action at home against Georgia Tech. I have to say that there are not to many people down here at the beach, it is also pretty cold own here. I will be heading back to Heights later today. MICKEY

You can determine how confident people are by listening to what they don't say about themselves.
Brian G. Jett

Willingness
Talent and ability have an influence on your level of accomplishment, yet there is another factor that plays a much greater role. That factor is willingness.

You can come up with all sorts of excuses and reasonable explanations for why you are where you are. The truth is, you are precisely where you have been willing, up to this point, to bring yourself.

You can know just what to do, and have every ability and resource with which to do it. And yet you also must be willing, or it will never happen.

Willingness comes from knowing why, on a deep and undeniable level. Willingness comes from making a solid, consistent and persistent connection to your most meaningful purposes.

Willingness comes from understanding that every action has consequences, as does every failure to act. Your most authentic and abiding desires are faithfully expressed by what you are willing to do.

Seek to remember, perhaps for the first time in a long time, who you are and why you are here. And find the willingness to bring your own unique purpose to life.

RENEGADES WIN 8TH STRAIGHT, A TOUGH NIGHT FOR THE COLONIALS

The Richmond Renegades won there 8th straight game Friday night knocking off the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-0 in Knoxville, the Gades will go for there 9th straight win Saturday night against Twin City in Winston-Salem, NC. It was tough night again for both the Colonials girls and boys basketball teams against Prince George. The CH girls fell to Prince George in 2OT 72-69, the Colonials missed a shot at the buzzer which would have sent the game to a 3rd overtime. I went to the boys game and when I left PG was up by about 30, it was a very physical game with several on court confrontations which resulted in several technical fouls. I have to say there doesn't appear to be any love lost in any sports in which CH and PG are playing each other, I also understand from numerous sources that the girls was a pretty rough affair also. I am heading to the beach at 5am that's why I am writing Saturday's entry to the blog Friday night. I almost forgot the VCU Rams will be at home Saturday night against the Drexel Dragons, Go Rams, MICKEY

A fool think he needs no advice, but a wise man listens to others. [Proverbs 12:15]
Bible

Fitness Tip
Who said you have to act your age? Remember playing stickball, handball or whiffle ball? Stage a tournament on your block or get the guys together for a game of pick up basketball. You’ll burn hundreds of calories before you know it. And then you can go home and have someone kiss your boo-boo and make it better.

Expect the best
Some people make a practice of expecting the worst, in an effort to avoid being disappointed. Yet when you expect the worst you also focus on it and visualize it, thereby pushing yourself in a negative direction.

A more positive and effective strategy is to expect the best. Then build upon that expectation with preparation and action.

Expect the best, and visualize, in great detail, your own participation in it. That puts you into a powerful frame of mind, orients you toward success, and brings your expectations to life.

Expect the best, and you enable yourself to recognize and make full use of the opportunities coming your way. Expect the best, while preparing to handle whatever may come along, and you'll be ahead of the game from the very beginning.

No, life will not always live up to your highest expectations. Yet when the disappointments do come, choose even then to expect the best eventual outcome, and you're much more likely to get it.

Base your expectations on the best that you can imagine for every situation. More often than not, you'll go precisely where you expect to go.
