GREEN BAY FALLS TO DALLAS, RENEGADES BACK IN ACTION TONIGHT

The Green Bay Packers fell behind early and we never able to catch up last night in Dallas falling to the Cowboys 37-27. The Packers lost QB Brett Favre to an elbow injury in the 2nd quarter and he never returned to the game and it is possibe that he might be out for a few weeks. Aaron Rodgers did a good job filling in for Favre but the Packer defense couldn't contain the Cowboys offense. The Packer are off until Dec 9 when they play the Raiders at home which is a good thing, the Packers are pretty banged up. The Richmond Renegades are back at home tonight when the Huntsville Havoc come to town for there first meeting of the season, the Gades are also at home Saturday night when the Twin City Cyclones make a visit to the RC. The Colonial Heights boys basketball team open up there season tonight against Goochland in the Trinity Tournament. I have posted a link below to the photos AL took at the Colonial Heights girls basketball game Wednesday night. I have to go to Hopewell this morning to get some x-rays taken on my foot and then I am going to try to work the rest of the day if my foot doesn't hurt to bad. Fellow blogger A.G. had a 5:50 flight to Jacksonville this morning to go see tomorrows ACC championship game, if the Hokies win it looks like they will have rematch with Georgia in Orange Bowl. Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

• Today is National Mousseless Day, a day to just let your hair do its own thing. I don't have to worry about that.

1887: George Hancock invented softball at the Farragut Boat Club in Chicago. At first, it was played indoors with a stick and a boxing glove.
1956: CBS replayed "Douglas Edward and the News" three hours after it was received on the West Coast. It was the world's first broadcast by videotape.
1974: Marva Drew of Waterloo, Iowa, completed typing from one to 1-million on a manual typewriter. It took her six years and 2,473 sheets of paper.
1983: Radio Shack introduced its Tandy Model 2000 computer using the Intel-186 processor.
1985: The world's largest beer mug was unveiled by the Selangor Pewter Company of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 6-foot tankard holds 615 gallons.
1990: A Los Angeles sanitation truck driver, protesting unsafe trucks and job stress, dumped 10 tons of garbage on the street in front of city hall.
1997: A 34-year-old man walked into the Bielefeld, Germany, police station and confessed to an armed bank robbery in the town ten years earlier. The man told police he had found God after finding a Bible in the street and wanted to confess.

Health and Diet Tip
Reach for that glass of orange juice. Studies suggest the most commonly consumed nutrient, vitamin C, helps to reduce both the physical and psychological effects of stress. Vitamin C is found in fresh fruits (oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, cantaloupes) and vegetables (broccoli, tomatoes, parsley, and asparagus).

A decided advantage
Working every moment toward an objective is far more productive than waiting until the last moment to get started. Progressing steadily gives you a decided advantage over catching up frantically.

The farther in advance you begin to make a difference, the more you're able to leverage your time and effort. Over time, modest efforts can add together to bring big results. Start early, remain steady, and you can do amazing things. Take the opportunity of each day as it comes, and those opportunities seized will pile on top of one another into something grand.

Right now you are working steadily toward a future that you choose by virtue of the actions you take on the way there. Each moment is precious in its own sake, and even more valuable because it contains the seed of greater moments become. Enjoy each moment, nurture the seeds of possibility, and you'll reap a bountiful harvest.

MY TRIP TO THE DOCTOR

So far they have not found out whats wrong with me. The Dr. said he didn't know if was the gout or not, he says it looks like I stepped on something but if I did I sure don't remember it. I have to go to Hopewell in the morning to get a some x-rays taken of my left foot and they took three tubes of blood as well. He did give me two prescriptions to take as well. My foot isn't hurting quite as bad today because I was off my feet for the most part. Not being able to run is killing me though. MICKEY

BIG GAME TONIGHT FOR THE PACKERS

The Green Bay Packers have a showdown in Dallas tonight, both teams enter the game at 10-1 and the winner will have the upper hand for the #1 spot in the NFC and home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. I don't know who won last night girls basketball game because there was no score in the paper this morning, maybe a fellow blogger who was at the game will post the score. I am going to try to go to the DR. today if I can get and appointment, the DR. on my card isn't even at the Colonial Heights Medical Center anymore and they said you have to have an appointment to see a DR. My foot isn't any better that's for sure and after doing some more research on the WWW I think I might have the gout, all I know is that is pretty swollen and it hurts. I don't like being hurt because I can't exercise and it's bothering me. MICKEY

Fitness Tip
Go ahead! Take a break. Everyone needs a break from his or her workout routine – even you! If you over train, you increase your risk of muscle aches and tears, joint injuries, fatigue, illness and even depression. Every 12-16 weeks, it’s a good idea to take a week off. It won’t hurt a bit.

AIP APPROACHING ALL TIME HIGH

With my foot hurting as bad as it is my AIP is approaching an all time high. If it could hurt any worst I don't know how, because it is hurting so bad it is making me walk different which had lead to some other part of my body start hurting. I don't know how much longer I will be able to stand it before I have to go to the DR., it's not going to be much longer. The CH girls basketball team opens up there season tonight at Midlothian, this is a very tought team to have your opener against. The Virginia basketball team beat Northwastern last night 94-52 in the ACC-Big 10 challenge, the Cavs are now 6-1 and off until next Wednesday when the play Syracuse at the JPJ Arena. Speaking of the Cavaliers, Al Groh was voted ACC football coach of the year even though he didn't beat Virginia Tech this year. Dr. Robert Cade died yesterday, in case you did not know he was the man who invented Gatorade. I have posted a bracket of what a 16 team NCAA football playoff bracket would look like if they had a playoff sytem, I got it from Yahoo sports. MICKEY

Health Tip: Stay Safe in the Kitchen
Many a safety hazard or potential foodborne illness has its origin in the kitchen.

Here are suggestions to help keep you safe in the kitchen, courtesy of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension:

* To prevent the spread of bacteria and foodborne illness, keep your kitchen clean. Wash your hands frequently, wash foods before you prepare them, and clean countertops and utensils regularly.
* Be careful lifting and carrying heavy dishes, especially if they're hot. Ask for help carrying items that are large or heavy.
* Don't leave knives and other sharp utensils sitting in dishwater. Someone could easily cut themselves reaching into the water.
* Keep the kitchen floor clear of spills and debris.
* Prevent kitchen fires by keeping all flammable objects away from the stove and oven.

Another Approach
When one approach is not working to reach the desired goal, that's not a reason to abandon the goal. Instead, it is time to devise another approach. Sometimes the objective and the means to that objective become so intertwined that it is difficult to imagine one without the other. Yet there are many different ways to reach any particular goal, given enough persistence and creativity.

That's why, for those who are able to consistently get things done, there is no such thing as failure. There are only approaches which have been proven ineffective.

There is a way to achieve whatever you desire, even when you've already fallen short of the mark. There is a way to do it. That way may not be obvious. It may well require some skillful, creative thinking. It's there, though. Learn from each attempt, learn from each approach and you'll surely discover one that works spectacularly.

SESAMOIDITIS, THIS WAHT I THINK I HAVE

After doing a little research on the WWW this is what I think is wrong with my foot. MICKEY
I HAVE PLACED MYSELF ON THE 2 DAY DISABLED LIST

Sesamoiditis
Learn about products that provide immediate pain relief for Sesamoiditis Check products that provide immediate pain relief for Sesamoiditis
Definition

Sesamoiditis is a common ailment that affects the forefoot, typically in young people who engage in physical activity like running or dancing. Its most common symptom is pain in the ball-of-the-foot, especially on the medial or inner side. The term is a general description for any irritation of the sesamoid bones, which are tiny bones within the tendons that run to the big toe. Like the kneecap, the sesamoids function as a pulley, increasing the leverage of the tendons controlling the toe. Every time you push off against the toe the sesamoids are involved, and eventually they can become irritated, even fractured. Because the bones are actually within the tendons, sesamoiditis is really a kind of tendinitis - the tendons around the bones become inflamed as well.
Cause

Sesamoiditis typically can be distinguished from other forefoot conditions by its gradual onset. The pain usually begins as a mild ache and increases gradually as the aggravating activity is continued. It may build to an intense throbbing. In most cases there is little or no bruising or redness. One of the major causes of sesamoiditis is increased activity. You've probably stepped up your activity level lately, which has forced you to put more pressure on the balls of your feet. Speedwork, hillwork, or even increased mileage can cause this. If you have a bony foot, you simply may not have enough fat on your foot to protect your tender sesamoids. Also, if you have a high arched foot, you will naturally run on the balls-of-your-feet, adding even more pressure.
Treatment and Prevention

Treatment for sesamoiditis is almost always noninvasive. Minor cases call for a strict period of rest, along with the use of a modified shoe or a shoe pad to reduce pressure on the affected area. This may be accomplished by placing a metatarsal pad away from the joint so that it redistributes the pressure of weight bearing to other parts of the forefoot. In addition, the big toe may be bound with tape or athletic strapping to immobilize the joint as much as possible and allow for healing to occur. It is recommended to decrease or stop activity for awhile. This will give your sesamoids time to heal. You should apply ice to the area for 10 to 15 minutes after exercise, or after any activity that aggravates the area. As with icing, anti-inflammatories will help the swelling go down so healing can begin. While the injury is healing, women should wear flat shoes on a daily basis. If home remedies do not work, see your doctor for a correct diagnosis.

MY FOOT IS NOT ANY BETTER

I have to say that my foot isn't any better and I think it is actually hurting worst than yesterday. It is a throbbing pain and it feels like somebody is driving a nail threw it, it is very swollen and very painful. I did ice it down a few more times yesterday but it didn't help the pain at all, I don't know how much longer I will be able take the pain I am having before I have to go to the doctor, IT IS HURTING BAD. The bad thing is I don't know how I hurt my foot. I have posted a link to the photos Al took at yesterdays powderpuff football game below, the seniors picked up the win in the game. I wrapped all my Christmas presents last night that I have already, I still have a few more to get before I will be completely done shopping though. The UVA basketball team will be back in action tonight against Northwestern at the JPJ Arena. MICKEY

Health Tip: Put Nightmares to Bed
Nightmares can be triggered by factors including stress, medications, fear, sleep disorders, or a recent loss.

Here are suggestions to help conquer bad dreams, courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine:

* Reduce stress by talking to friends and relatives about what's bothering you.
* Try relaxation techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.
* If you started having nightmares after starting a new medication, talk to your doctor to find out if it could be causing your sleep problems.
* If you're taking illegal drugs or drinking alcohol to excess, join a support group to help you stop using these substances.
* Get regular exercise.
* Start a regular sleep schedule. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day may help prevent nightmares.
