donna's ?? birthday party pics

pic 1 is the good looking birthday girl!
pic 2 is donna getting some help blowing out the candles from the little tornado!
pic 3 andrew was complain because i was taking his picture, but like i told jacob, if your going to be a guitar hero or a baseball hero you'd better get used to the media being in your face. its all part of the game. work the media to your advantage!
pic 4 jacob is having to learn the hard way that when jonathan or julianne says they are going to do something they mean what they say! jonathan warned him several times and told him what was going to happen if he didn't leave him alone! this is what happened after jacob persiently nagged jonathan
pic 5 despite the efforts of julianne to shut jacob up with a sock the little tornado continued rollling right along, he was in a mood yesterday i think because we had a house full of people and he wasn't the center of attention. at ruby tuesdays he said he sure wished he could have had a nap and julianne, jonathan, donna and myself said at the same time we do to!!!

A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP

Well after having a bad nights sleep on Sunday night I slept like a rock last night. I went to bed at about 10:30pm and didn't wake up at all until about 5:15am and I fell well rested this morning. Mom & dad kept Andrew yesterday and will keep him today as well, it seems they have a full day of eating planned starting with breakfast this morning. Last night we went to Cracker Barrel and then by Donna & Al's house for the birthday celebration for cake and ice cream, I had to pass on all the sweets. We missed another good chance to pick up some more rain yesterday in CH, some areas such as Dinwiddie picked up more than 2 inches while we barely got a drop here in CH. Can you believe that today is the last day of July, talk about a month going by fast, before you know it the school bells will be ringing again. There wasn't much done here at the house yesterday in construction process, the next big thing they are suppose to do is put the kitchen floor in. MICKEY

Don't bother people for help without first trying to solve the problem yourself.
Colin Powell

1792 - Construction started with the laying of the cornerstone in the first building to be used solely as a U.S. Government building. It was the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia.
1948 - New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport wasn’t always named that. In fact, on this day, U.S. President Harry S Truman dedicated the airport as International Airport at Idlewild Field.
1964 - Country Music Hall of Famer Jim Reeves died when his single-engine Beechcraft crashed near Nashville, TN. Gentleman Jim started as a DJ, first at KGRI in Henderson, Texas; then at KWKH in Shreveport, LA (the home of the Louisiana Hayride in the early 1950s).
1971 - The first men to ride in a vehicle on the moon did so on this day in the LRV (lunar rover vehicle). This example of a lunar dune buggy carried Apollo 15 astronauts David R. Scott and James B. Irwin for five miles on the lunar surface. Their first stop at the rim of Elbow Crater was televised back to Earth to millions of viewers. The moon ride lasted two hours and the astronauts were heard to exclaim, “There’s some beautiful geology out there!”
1999 - The U.S. heat wave -- linked to at least 94 deaths -- continued. As Chicago baked in 100-degree weather, thousands of hot and sweaty residents were forced to endure the heat without air conditioning or fans, due to sporadic power outages and brownouts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONNA

Well today is Donna's birthday and I won't even guess how old she is, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONNA and since our old computer crashed her birthday is not bad. I think she should celebrate her birthday for the rest of the month. Well we did get some much needed rain last night and a pretty bad t-storm which knocked out the power here in CH for about 20 seconds, I don't mind losing the power just for 20 seconds. I am sure somewhere else in city it was out for much longer. It looks like today will be the coolest day of the week weather wise, after today it suppose to be in the mid 90's the rest of the week. Tony Stewart won yesterdays Brickyard 400 holding off Juan Pablo Montoya for the win, Stewart and Harvick had a pretty spirited battle in which they traded a little paint which left Harvick a bit hot under the collar but I didn't see anything Stewart did that was wrong, Harvick ended up finishing 7th and was summoned to the Nascar hauler after the race. I didn't sleep very well last night so I am a bit cranky this morning. MICKEY

WE GOT A LITTLE RAIN YESTERDAY

It didn't last that long but we did get some much needed rain yesterday and there is 50% that we could get some more today and Monday. I even trying to turn the water sprinkler yesterday but thing seems to be about half broke, it was spraying about half the water that was coming out straight into the ground. Mom & Dad are coming home later today to check out the construction progress themselves. I did go over to Me Ma Ruth's house yesterday and she still has about 8 cherry tomatoes on her vine but they are still very green but the plan itself is not looking very good. Jason Leffler gave Toyota is 1st win on the Busch Series last night at ORP when he held of Greg Biffle for the victory. Today at the Brickyard a pair of Ganassi teammates will share the front row for todays Brickyard 400 on ESPN, Reed Sorenson is on the pole with Juan Pablo Montoya on the outside pole. Montoya won the Indianapolis 500 earlier in his career. Also I think somebody is having a birthday Monday, stay tuned to see who it is. Well I have to go so I can cut my hair and go for a run. jacob pics from friday

pic 1 playing with the ballon to his ballon car he got at bible school. pic 2 karate chopping some packing material. pic 3 making ice cream with his ice cream ball that donna bought him. several problems with the ice cream ball one its takes 15 minutes of rolling it around to make it work and thats about 13 minutes past his maximium attention span time and two we tried to do it while wrastlin was on and ric flair was wrastlin, so he wouldn't roll the ball while wrastlin was on because it makes a bunch of noise and he can't hear the smack talking!! pic 4 he is happy that his dads here this weekend , now he has help fighting with julianne! pic 5 unfortunately for jacob jason isn't always around and julianne makes him eat grass!!! don't think julianne is being mean, because for atleast 5 mintues jacob was talking smack about her not being able to make him eat grass and how he'd like to see it happen!!! so it did!!

FRUSTRATED AT WAL-MART

Well I made my usual Saturday trip down to Wal-Mart this morning and I think I spent an extra 30 minutes there because I couldn't get to the grocery section because they were putting wax on the floors. I don't know about what everybody else thinks but if they are going to put wax on the floors they need to do in the overnight hours not at 6am. I didn't even try to get any donuts because they looked pretty dry. Well Post 284 season came to an end last night with a 9-5 defeat at the hands of Ashland Post 206, Post 284 did get solo HR's from former Colonials Kyle Mears and Andrew Holt. Well we didn't get any rain again yesterday here in CH but areas east of CH got a pretty good rain, here lately we just seem to be just east or west of where the rain is. They will qualify today for tomorrows Brickyard 400 and the Busch cars will race at IRP tonight. I guess it's time to get ready for football now, most college football teams open up 5 weeks from today and the NFL will start a week later. I did talk to floor man yesterday and he said when they put the final two coats of finish on the hard wood floor he didn't think he didn't think I would be able to stand the fumes at least until the next day. Well I need to go do some exercise. MICKEY

A LONG WEEK COMES TO AN END

I don't know about you but this week for some reason has felt like it has taken for ever and I for one is glad that it is over. I went to see Post 284 play last night but they had a tough night falling to Powhatan 9-5, they just didn't play well last night. They will play Post 206 tonight at home in the losers bracket. All three of Nascars top series are racing in Indianapolis this weekend, the trucks and Busch cars are at IRP while the Nextel cup cars will be at the Brickyard. Work here at the house is continuing to progress and it looks like things are starting to take shape. The fumes from the floor finish yesterday have left me with a bit of a headache last night, however the fumes have dissipated this morning. In a bit of sad news from the sports world Wake Forest basketball coach Skip Prosser died of an apparent heart attack after jogging yesterday, he was just 56. MICKEY
