Well our Appomattox Insurance softball team is back in first place after sweeping a double header from Oakley Tank Lines 20-9 and 12-9. AF hit the ball very well last night and I did come out of my hitting slump. EAST CAROLINA FALLS, GEORGIA SURVIVES

The East Carolina Pirates gave valiant effort against the West Virginia Mountaineers but it just wasn't enough as the Mountaineers defeated the Pirates 27-10. The Pirate defense played well all day but the offense just couldn't get on track, the offense did have several chances to put more points on the board but just weren't able to execute correctly. It was a pretty wild atmosphere in the stadium with all the Mountaineer fans who were there. The Pirates are off next week before UVA comes town on October 7. The Georgia Bulldogs survived a scare yesterday at the hands of the Colorado Buffaloes, the Bulldogs were trailing 13-0 with seven minutes remaining in the game before they scored got two TD's and held on for a 14-13 win, good teams find a way to win. There were a couple of big comebacks yesterday as well, NC Sate beat Boston College in the last minute of the game 17-15 and Notre Dame scored 19 points in the 4th quarter erasing a 16 point deficit entering the final quarter to beat Michigan St 40-37. Also don't look now but Wake Forest is now 4-0 and the play Liberty this week so there is a pretty good chance that they will be 5-0 entering there showdown with Clemson. Today in the NFL both the Packers and the Redskins will be trying to win there first game of the season, the Packers play the Lions and the Redskins play the Texans. Clint Boyer won yesterday's Busch race at Dover, today Jeff Gordon will lead the field to the green in today's Nextel Cup race at Dover. VIRGINIA FALLS TO GEORGIA TECH

The Virginia Cavaliers offensive woes continued last night in Atlanta as the Cavs fell to the Yellow Jackets 24-7. The defense played pretty well with the exception of a couple of big plays but they need to get a help from the offense. Virginia will have a tough time next week at Duke if the offense continues to play the way they been playing and they won't beat East Carolina the way they are playing right now. STOOPID (FART) FACTZ !

A person produces about half a liter of farts a day.

Although they won't admit it, women fart as much as men.

Termites are the largest producers of farts.

Farts are flammable.

The word "fart" comes from the Old English "feortan" (meaning "to break wind").

Excess gas in the intestinal is medically termed "flatulence."

REDSKINS AND PACKERS BOTH 0-2

Well the Washington Redskins and the Green Bay Packers are now both 0-2 after the Redskins fell to the Cowboys 27-10 and the Packers lost to the Saints 34-27. Green Bay was suppose to be bad but not the Redskins, the Skins had better win there next game or they will be digging themselves a pretty big whole. Tonight on Monday Night Football the Steelers will play the Jaguars, there are few members of the blog who root for the Steelers, at least they have a pretty good team to root for. Kevin Harvick won yesterday race at New Hampshire and now leads the race for the chase by 35 points over Chesterfields own Denny Hamlin and another Virginian is just 64 points out. Dale Jr is 81 points behind and needs to have a good race next weekend at Dover. The 4-0 Appomattox Financial softball team will be back in action tonight at 8:15 against Attention To Detail, AF is tied for 1st with Oakley Tank Lines who is also 4-0. The Richmond Renegades held a pro tryout camp this weekend in Richmond and they had about 25 players show up, there were several players from this area who tried to impress Coach Brophy and yes there were several altercations at the camp. VIRGINIA EMBARRASSED ON HOMECOMING

The UVA football team was embarrassed yesterday on homecoming by the Western Michigan Broncos 17-10. I just don't know how a team can get so bad so fast, there is no excuse for Virginia to lose to Western Michigan at home. The first thing they need to do is to decide who is going to play QB, the offense doesn't seem to have any rythm and if you keep going from QB to QB it isn't going to get any better. I know the fans are growing restless with Coach Groh and all of his antics and his approach to the way he handles his players and the media. I am glad that I didn't go to that game yesterday and it looks like it is going to be a very long year for UVA this year. I did go down to East Carolina yesterday and I have to say at the half it wasn't looking to good for ECU down 20-7 to Memphis and yes the fans were getting a bit disgruntled. Then they kicked it off for the second half and it looked like East Carolina had picked up some new players at the break, the Pirates scored 28 unanswered points in the second half enroute to a 35-20 victory over Memphis and all the home fans went home happy. Next up for ECU is a home game against the West Virginia Mountaineers next saturday at 4:30pm on ESPN2. The Georgia Bulldogs continued there winning ways yesterday beating the UAB Blazers 34-0, the Bulldogs have looked pretty good all year. There were a few big upsets yesterday in college football but the biggest had to be the way Michigan beat Notre Dame 47-21, they dominated the Irish and the other big upset was Clemson beating Florida St 27-20. It looks like to me Virginia Tech is the best team in the ACC right now. Today in the NFL the New Orleans visits Green Bay, lets hope the Packers can score today and Redskins visit Dallas tonight in a gam both teams need to win, the Redskins are banged up so they could have pretty rough time in Dallas tonight. The first race of the chase is today at New Hampshire, I will be rooting for Hamlin and Earnhardt Jr. MICKEY

I AM OFFICIALLY OVER THE HILL

Well I am now officially over the hill and yes I feel like I am 40. Can you believe that somebody put this giant sign in my front yard last night, as you can tell it is no longer in my front yard, I didn't want to draw attention to myself. Well I want to thank everybody for all the cards and well wishes that I got. Now on to sports, the Colonials lost a very hard fought game last night to Park View 20-15, the Colonials played very well in the loss, Park View a had a few big plays that made the difference in the game. I have posted a link below to some photos from last nights game. A couple of other games of note in this area, Varina beat Thomas Dale 9-7 and Mataoca beat Manchester 24-21. Down in Georgia last night Crawford County fell to Manchester 33-0, sounds like the Eagles had a tough night. Down at the beach First Flight improved there record to 2-2 on the season beating North Pitt 28-6, Manteo pounded Williamston 47-6 and Creswell beat Cape Hatteras 28-0. I am heading down to East Carolina tonight to see the Pirates play the Memphis Tigers, the Pirates are looking for the first win of the season after two tough losses. A.G., has the Stony Brook at New Hampshire game today. There are seven games today that have top 25 teams playing each other, there could be allot of changes in the polls next week and there allot of conference matchups as well. I have put the lines from all the ACC games below along with other matchups. Kevin Harvick seems to be on a roll, after winning both races last weekend at Richmond he put his #29 Chevy on the poll at New Hampshire for the 1st race of the final 10. Well I have allot of things to do today before I go to the ECU game tonight. MICKEY

COLONIALS BACK IN ACTION TONIGHT

The CH Colonials football team will be back in action tonight at home against the Park View-South Hill Dragons. The Dragons come into tonight's game with a 2-0 record, the Colonials are 0-1, it could be a slow track tonight in CH with all the rain we had yesterday. Also tonight the Varina visits Thomas Dale and Mataoca visits Manchester. Down in Georgia the Crawford County Eagles travel to Manchester High School to play the Bulldogs, Scott said that Manchester is ranked in the top 10 in the state in Georgia, the Eagles could have there hands full with Manchester. Scottie's middle school football team lost a tough one this week falling 24-22, they were leading 22-16 late before they fell apart literally, there were few internal problems. At the beach tonight North Pitt is at First Flight, Manteo is at Williamston and Creswell is at Cape Hatteras to play the Hurricanes. In college football action last night West Virginia beat Maryland 45-24 an believe me it could have been allot worst. The Nextel Cup Series will be at New Hamshire this weekend for the 1st race of the of the final 10 for the race for the Nextel Cup, qualifying is this afternoon. My birthday is closing in fast.
