COLONIALS FALL TO DINWIDDIE

The Dinwiddie Generals defeated the CH Colonials 6-2 last night in Dinwiddie, the Colonials were held hitless for 6 and 1/3 innings before Andrew Holt broke up the no-hitter in the top of the 7th. The Colonials are now (1-1,3-2) for the season and our next game is at Petersburg on tuesday. The TD Knights beat Meadowbrook 11-1 yesterday to improve to (1-1,1-4-1) overall, the Knights have Matoaca on tuesday. The Richmond Riverdogs will be in Detroit tonight to play the Motor City Mechanics, the Dogs are two points behind Quad City entering this weekend for the final playoff spot. The Nextel Cup Series make there first stop of the year in Virginia this weekend at Martinsville, there still could be some short fuses in this weekends race. At press time I haven't decided or not whether I am going to the beach this weeknd or not but I am leaning towards staying home, but I could change my mind later today. MICKEY

The CH Colonials will be back in action tonight at 6pm at Dinwiddie in a key CD matchup for both teams. Dinwiddie is 1-0 in the CD and 1-1 overall for the season and the Colonials are 1-0 in the CD and 3-1 overall. The TD Knights will also be action today as Meadowbrook pays a visit to Thomas Dale, both teams are 0-1 in CD play. The Richmond Riverdogs kept ther faint playoff hope alive with a 4-3 victory over Roanoke at the RC last night, it's to bad that the Dogs can't play Roanoke and Elimira every game. MICKEY

The CH Colonials hold on and beat TD in CD baseball action yesterday 9-6. The Colonials built an 8-1 lead with back to back HR's by Nathan Anger and Geordie Breidenbach but TD came back and cut the lead to 8-6 before the Colonials got more run in the last half of the 6th inning to make it 9-6. The Colonials also got three hits from Kenny Stoneback and Nathan Anger picked of victory for the Colonials. The Colonials will travel to Dinwiddie on thursday night for a 6pm matchup with the Generals. The three photos are from two HR's celebrations and of Andrew shaking hands with Bopper after the game. THINK PINK

GEORGE MASON ON THERE WAY TO THE FINAL FOUR

Who would ghave ever thought that George Mason would make it to the FINAL FOUR, they didn't even make it the finals in there own conference touranment and now they are going to the FINAL FOUR. A few weeks ago I said they were only two teams from VA in the tournament Hampton and George Mason and it didn't look good for the Va teams. Well with George Masons 86-84 OT victory over UCONN they are proving allot of people wrong, they will now play Florida on saturday in the semi-finals of the NCAA basketball tournament. The Richmond Riverdogs lost again to Adirondack sunday 6-1 in New York, it looks like Dogs will not make the playoffs this year, they are bck at home wed night against Roanoke. Kurt Busch won the Nextel Cup race at Bristol yesterday and yes there were some tempers that were running a bit high, this week they Cup Series is at Martinsville so I am sure there will be some more rough driving this week. Central Disrict baseball play starts tuesday for everybody and the big game has Thomas Dale visiting Colonial Heights. MICKEY

IT LOOKS LIKE SPRING MAY ARRIVE THIS WEEK

Well it looks like spring will finally arrive this week after temps well below normal last week it looks like that temps will be in the 60's most of the week and may reach into the 70's by friday. It looks some good baseball weather has arrived for tuesday's matchup with THOMAS DALE "THE BAD GUYS" at 4:30pm at Shepherd Stadium. The Richmond Riverdogs decided to take saturday night off and were frozen 4-0 by the Frostbite. Lee made an appearance at last nights hockey game last night, he could have been the reason for the Dogs poor performance. George Mason will play UCONN today at 2:40pm for the right to go to the FINAL FOUR, there aren't to many people that think Goerge Mason has a chance today, but that's what all the UNC fan though also. It was a wild at Bristol yesterday, the race was delayed by a snowstorm for a while before Kyle Busch picked up the victory in the Busch Series race. Today's cup race will probably be a pretty wild one and there could be some tempers flaring and there could be some drivers sent to the penalty box for a few laps. I have posted an old photo of dad from back in the 70's when perfected the art of cooking the lucky dog as Professor Bernard looks on at his student. COLONIALS LOSE A TOUGH ONE

The CH baseball team loses a tough one to L.C. Bird 7-6 in 8 innings. There were allot of things that we could have done better but we simply just didn't get the job done. We had our chances and Nathan deserved a better outcome than he got. The Colonials are now 2-1 and open CD play at home against Thomas Dale tuesday afternoon at 4:30pm. The Richmond Riverdogs defeated Roanoke last night at the RC 4-2, the Dogs will play Adirondak tonight at the RC. How about those George Mason Patriots picking up another victory in the NCAA basketball tournament with a 63-55 victory Wichita St. , with the victory George Mason moves to the elite 8 and now plays UCONN on sunday at 2:40pm. Nextel Cup qualifying a Bristol was rained out yesterday so the field was set on last years owners points. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL AND COLONIALS WIN

Well today is Al's birthday and I have pulled up a few old photos from the past of Al from many years ago, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL. The CH baseball team picked up a 12-2 victory over Brunswick thursday in 5 innings to improve to 2-0 on the young season. The Colonials were lead by Kenny Stoneback 3-3, Andrew Holt 2-2, Erik Loftis 2-2, and Brett Draper picked up the victory. Tonight CH will be at L.C. Bird at 6pm for another non district matchup. In the NCAA basketball tournamnet UCLA, LSU, Memphis, and Texas all won last night, lets hope George Mason can continue on tonight with a victory as well. The Riverdogs will also be at home tonight against Roanoke and continuing there push for the playoffs, they also will be at home saturday night as well. HOPEFULLY THE 3RD TIME WILL BE THE CHARM

Well after being postponed for two days in a rown hopefully the 3rd time will be the charm and we will be able to play Brunswick today at 5pm. It looks like the temps will be in the 50's at the start of the game but will probably drop back into 40's during the game. We also have a game friday at 6pm at L.C. Bird. The Thomas Dale Knights lost 11-5 to Varina, TD is off now until tuesdays CD opener at Colonial Heights. A SURPRISE SNOW

Well after it appeared we had missed all the bad weather from the latest storm we got a bit of snow last night. Even though we didn't get much of the white stuff it has probably forced us to postpone our baseball game again today. Also today Varina will be at Thmas Dale weather permitting. We are suppose to be playing the Brunswick Bulldogs at 5pm. In baseball action yesterday TD fell to Monacan 10-2, next up for TD is Varina. THE DAY BERNARD CAUGHT THE BIG ONE

I was going through some more of our old slides last night and I found this photo of Bernard the day he caught this big fish at Oregon Inlet. In this photo you can see Bernard with his prize catch and he looks pretty proud of it. In baseball today Tohomas Dale will be at Monacan and in another game involving a CD team Hopewell will be Highland Springs. We are suppose to play Brunswick tuesday but right now the weather doesn't look to good for that, we could get a bit of winter weather tonight and tuesday. The Nextel Cup race in Atlanta was rained out yesterday was postponed until today at 11am an it will be on FX. How about that big upset by George Mason beating those hated UNC Tar Heels 65-60 yesterday, George Mason will now play Wichita State on friday at 7:27pm. MICKEY

DUSTY'S FIRST DRIVING LESSON !!

NOT A BAD DAY AT CAMP

It wasn't a bad day at camp after all, the temps made it to the upper 50's and the players this wek were a bit more skilled. We had around 30 kids this week and most of the were 11-12 year olds but we did have a few 13 year olds also. The camp will end this afternoon with 3 groups playing each other. George Mason will play UNC today in the NCAA tournament and hopefully the Patriots can pull an upset but I doubt it. The Riverdogs lost in a SO last night in Ft Wayne 3-2, the Dogs will return home now fro three straight at the RC. After last weeks temps in the 70's and 80's for baseball camp this weekend it is only going to be in the 50's with a bit of wind. This weeks camp will be for 11-12 year olds. There were some intersting baseball scores involving CD teams and I have posted the scores below. The Richmond Riverdogs picked up another victory last night defeating Rockford 3-2, tonight the Dogs will be in Ft. Wayne to play the Komets. Kasey Kahne won the pole for sundays Nextel Cup event in Atlanta and Bill Lester did make the race becoming the first black driver to make a Cup race in the last 20 years. I hope everybody has there green on today because everybody knows what happens if you don't have it on. I do have mine on so I don't ecpect any problems on my end. We have baseball camp again this weekend at the stadium for 11-12 year olds, it looks like the weather is going to be much colder this weekend than last which could make for a long day if I get cold. TD lost a tough one yesterday falling to Midlothian 12-8 at Dale. In other games of CD interest it was Monacan 5 Dinwiddie 4 and Colover Hill 10 Meadowbrook 2. The Richmond Riverdogs are in Rockford, Illinois tonight and there is a pretty good chance that Tedstone will be back in action looking for a rematch against Robin Big Snake. Well the NCAA basketball tournament gets underway today and I have no rooting interest for any one team, I guess I will root for the underdogs in this years tournament. The Richmond Riverdogs defeated Elmira 5-2 in Elmira last night, the Dogs will return home next wed night. The TD Knights are at home this afternoon when they play host to Midlothian at 4pm. VERY WARM IN CH TODAY

It is going to be very warm here in CH today with temps in the mid to upper 80's before a cold front comes thru this evening. The last three days have been very in nice with temps in the low 80's and a bit of a breeze, I even got a bit of a sun tan at baseball camp this weekend. The temp is suppose be in the 60's tuesday for opening day for the Colonials baseball team. The Thomas Dale baseball team will open it's season this afternoon at home against L.C. Bird at 4pm, I know there is one other game involving a CD team with Benedictine playing Hopewell. George Mason and Hampton University will be Virginia's only two teams in the NCAA basketball tournament, Mason might win one but I think it is going to be hard for Hampton to win more than one. Jimmy Johnson won yesterdays Nextel Cup race in Vegas, maybe he needs to keep his current crew chief, he has done pretty well at it filling in for his regular crew chief. Today is Scott's birthday so everybody needs to with him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I have posted a photo of Scott from many years ago, it is a photo that was a slide that I recently scanned. I guess Scott might be having the blue flu tonight. The CH Colonials baseball team will be having it's final scrimmage this afternoon against Trinity at 3:30pm at Shepherd Stadium, the regular season begins on tuesday. I am hoping that we hit the ball better than we did last saturday. Virginia will be playing Virginia Tech tonight in the first round of the ACC tournament in Greensboro. MICKEY

SCANNING OLD SLIDES

Well I began the process of scanning some of the old slides that dad has had in his closet last night after Les came by and gave me and mom a class on scanning slides. I have posted one of them this morning a photo of me and Big T. Some of the slides are scanning pretty good while others not so good. It was a very cold day on the baseball field yesterday and yes my arm is very sore today, it is at least suppose to be sunny today with a high in the low 50's. There is a light at the end of the tunnel this week though as by the end of the week temps are suppose to be in the mid to upper 70's. Also yesterday a bit of sad news as bsaball hall of famer Kirby Puckett passed away from a stroke at the age of 45. MICKEY

The Virginia Cavaliers lost the last game ever at U-Hall to Maryland 71-70. The Cavs fell behind by 16 in the 2nd half and were pretty lucky to even have a chance at beating Maryland. Virginia will play Va. Tech in the ACC basketball tournament later this week. The Richmond Riverdogs picked up a much needed victory defeating the Elmira Jackals in NY yesterday 4-1, the Dogs are until this weekend when the play at Roanoke both friday and saturday nights. Denny Hamlin won yesterday's Busch race in Mexico City, he is having a pretty good year so far. It's not looking good for practice this afternoon, there is 50% chance of rain. Has anybody heard anything from George, he seems to be missing in action from the blog. Gary we are still waiting for your return to the blog. It just isn't the same with no comments from Gary and George. MICKEY

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

Well after watching yesterday's scrimmage there is definitely room for improvement. There were some things that we did well but there were also some things that we didn't do to well. If we want to be one of the better teams in the Central District we need to improve. I guess that's why we play scrimmages though to get the kinks out. North Satfford has a pretty good team but if have played up to our potential we should have been able to play with them. I have posted a couple of photos that Al took of the scrimmage yesterday and I have posted a link were you can see all the photos from the game. Our next scrimmage game is thursday against Trinity at Shepherd Stadium at 3:30pm. Thomas Dale also had a bit of a tough time yesterday and I know they will be looking to improve in there next scrimmage saturday against Benedectine at Thomas Dale. The Busch Series will race in Mexico City this afternoon with Boris Said on the pole. The last basketball game ever at University Hall will pbe played this afternoon when UVA hosts Maryland, next year the Cavs will move into there new home the John Paul Jones Arena. Keith won't be going to the game so the Cavs could be in for a long game. MICKEY
