Yesterday was a wild day weather wise, first it was windy all day and then we got some t-storms last night with some pretty sharp lightning. There was also a tornado watch out last night here in CH for about 6 hours, the western part of Virginia had some flash flooding and schools had to close early and some roads were washed away in those areas. The Richmond Riverdogs will be back in action tonight at the RC against the Adirondack Frostbite, the Dogs have won 5 of there last 6 games and hopefuly there winning ways will continue tonight. The Colonials girls basketball team opens it's season tonight at Midlothian. The UVA basketball team is also back in action tonight as it hosts Northwestern at 8pm. MICKEY

Is is going to be another very mild day here in CH whick is ok with me, the temps are suppose to be around 70 but there is a very good chance of rain. ECU WINS AND DOGS WIN A WILD ONE

The ECU Pirates ended the 2005 football season on a winning note yesterday beating the UAB Blazers 31-23 and ending the season on a two game winning streak. This years ECU team was much better than the teams of the last two years and it looks like Skip Holtz may have started to the program back around. The UVA Cavs lost a tough one to Miami 25-17 in Miami, that score was much closer than I thought it would be after the dismal performance Va Tech. The Ga Bulldogs held on last night to defeat Ga tech 14-7 in Atlanta, things got a little test with less than two minutes left when the Yellow Jackets got the ball inside Ga 20 but then threw an int to end the game. The Richmond Spiders won there first round playoff game in the I-AA playoffs beating Hampton last night 38-10, the Spiders now will play Furman at home next saturday. The Richmond Riverdogs got back on track last night knocking off the Roanoke Valley Vipers 5-4 in the 13 round of the shootout, towords the end of the game tempers flaired and that what these photos from. The photos were taken by the Dogs team photographer. It seems like every time I miss a game things get a little interesting. The Redskins have tough game today as San Diego comes to play the Skins, GB is at Philadelphia in game they might have a shot in, and Pittsburgh will be at Indy on monday night football. I still haven't quite finished all my christmas shopping but I am getting closer. MICKEY

DOGS STREAK ENDS, COACH EJECTED

The Richmond Riverdogs winning streak ended at 3 games last night as the Danbury Trashers defeated the Dogs 3-1 at the RC. The Trashers dominated the game all night and Dogs really were in it. Coach Robbie Nichols was ejected with 10 seconds left in the game for arguing a puck hit with a high stick call, he became very animated before he was tossed and then confronted all three officials after the game as they were trying to leave the ice. There is a good chance that he won't be behind the bench tonight when the play Roanoke. I am leaving at 8am this morning heading down to Greenville, NC to see ECU play UAB, kickoff is set for 12pm. It is suppose to be a bit warmer the next few days than has been with temps climbing back into the 60's by monday and tuesday, for late November that is very warm but that's ok with me. MICKEY

I just thought I would wish everybody a HAPPPY THANKSGIVING. It is a cool blustery morning here in CH. I took this photo of what it looked like at about 7:30am this morning. The Riverdogs won again last night 4-1 over the Danbury Trashers in CN, the Dogs now have won three in a row and play Danbury again friday night at the RC. I am going down to see the ECU Pirates play again this saturday in Greenville, NC they are playing the UAB Blazers. PACKERS ROUGH SEASON CONTINUES

The GB Packers rough season continued last night as the Packers fell to the Minnesota Vikings 20-17 on a field goal as time ran out. It did look at times like Pack might win there secon in row but it just isn't meant to be for the Pack this year. It is still raining here in CH this morning and the temp has dropped from yesterday and it appears that it is going to rain at least thru the morning hours, I guess rain is better than snow. RIVERDOGS WIN, CAVS PLAY SORRY

The Richmond Riverdogs got there first home win of the season last night defeating the Elmira Jackals 3-2, the same two teams play again this afternoon at 4:05 at the RC. There were some good college football games yesterday but UVA sure wasn't one of them. The Cavs were pounded on both sides of the ball in the 52-14 loss to Va Tech, they sure looked terrible and it might be even worst next week at Miami. Meanwhile ECU got a come from behind win over Marshall defeating them 34-29 in West Va, the pirates will finish out the season next saturday at home against UAB, Ga pounded Kentucky 45-13 yesterday in the SEC. In maybe the best game of the day USC beat Fresno St 50-43, there was plenty of offense in this game for sure. The last race of the season is today Florida, Carl Edwards will start on the pole this afternoon in the Ford 400. Tony Stewart starts the race this afternoon with a 52 point lead over Jimmy Johnson, hopefully Stewart will win the Nextel Cup today. MICKEY

CH AT MATOACA

The playoffs start tonight and for the first time since 1995 the Colonials will be in it, I said earlier it was 1989 but I stand corrected. Tonight the Colonials travel to Matoaca for rematch of game played two weeks ago in which Matoaca won 48-28 in game the Colonials moved the ball well on offense but turned the ball over to much. It is going to be cold and I just checked the temp for kickoff and now the weather underground predicts the temp to be around 35 at kickoff and below freezing by games end. I think that this is going to be a very close game and who ever gets the big break will win it. The winner of tonights game will face the winner of the other DIV 5 game between Huguenot at Deep Run next friday. The Colonials moved the ball pretty well between the 20's but were unable to get in the endzone but once, Meadowbrook defense stepped up when the Colonials got in the red zone. The Colonials will travel to Matoaca next week in the first round of the playoffs. The rest of the CD scores were Matoaca 14 Petersburg 7, TD 33 Hopewell 14, Prince George 34 Dinwiddie 13. It Looks Like It Is Going To Be A Nice Week

Well it looks like it is going to be a nice week weather wise here in CH, highs in the 70's all the way till friday and the on friday in the mid 60's with no rain expected even though we probably need it. The Packers played another pretty bad game yesterday losing 20-10 to the Steelers, it seemed like every time the Pack got inside the 20 they fumbled or threw an interception. The Pack may only win two or three games this year. Meanwhile the Redskins looked pretty good knocking off the Philadelphia Eagles 17-10, the NFL East has to be the toughest division in the NFL. Carl Edwards won for the second week in a row at Texas yesterday, the win puts him within 90 points of Stewart for the Nextel Cup. There are two races left and there are only relly three drivers who have a shot at the Cup ant they are Stewart, Johnson and Edwards. MICKEY

Va Tech Has A Tough Day, UVA Wins

The Va Tech Hokies had a tough evening losing to the Miami Hurricanes 27-7 in Blacksburg. The Hokies who may have controlled there own destiny may not even win there confeence in the ACC now and they can forget about the championship game in the BCS after the loss at home yesterday. Meanwhile UVA got back on the winning track yesterday with a 51-3 beating of a bad Temple team, UVA must win one more game to be able to play in a bowl game this year. Today in the NFL Pittsburgh will be at Green Bay, the only reason the Pack might have a chance is the Steelers are pretty banged up. Also today the Philadelhia Eagles are in DC to play the Skins tonight, the Eagle are without star reciever Terrell Owens because he has been suspended by the Eagles. The Nascar race is Texas today, Tony Stewart will try to extend his points lead today over Jimmy Johnson. Also yesterday I went in threw a little batting practice yesterday afternoon at a secret place to a few of our players at an indoor facility so today my arm is a little sore. MICKEY

Last week I was a perfect 5-0 to up my overall record to 26-16. However, this week I can't cherry pick because my old reliable Crawford Co Eagles are done for the year. Here are my picks as I see'em this week. Rememeber the games are played on the field and not on this blog.

Thomas Dale 27
Prince George 13

Petersburg 19
Dinwiddie 14

Meadowbrook 26
Hopewell 0

Mataoca 30
Colonial Heights 14

CHHS At Matoaca

The CH Colonials have a big game tonight at Matoaca. Both teams come in to the game with 7-1 and records, CH lost to Thomas Dale and Matoaca to LC Bird. This will be a very tough test for the Colonials because of the speed Matoaca has at it's skilled positions. Also in the CD tonight Prince George will be Thomas Dale, Petersburg at Dinwiddie and Meadowbrook at Hopewell. In NC First Flight will be at Currituck and Camden will be at Manteo. In UHL action tonight Richmond will try to extend it's winning streak at Roanoke. The Nextel Cup Series is at the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. MICKEY

Dogs Try To Pick Up First Win

The 0-5 Richmond Riverdogs will try to pick up there first win of the season tonight in Elmira, NY. The dogs didn't make any trades over the last few days so it is very possible that they will be 0-6 after tonight. They are suppose to have a new player in the lineup tonight but they won't announce who it is until later today. I think I am going to see the JV Colonials play tonight against the Matoaca Warriors. Well I did not win the lottery last night, the only good news about that is that nobody else won either, friday's jackpot is now 192 million dollars. I am happy to say that I have finished about 80% of my Christmas shopping and I have not left the house to do any of it, the internet is a good thing. Well I am off to work. MICKEY
